**Samiksha Singh** (born 8 October 1985), known mononoymously as **Sameksha**, is an Indian film and television actress. She has played a range of characters in various series and films, in multiple languages including [Tamil](/source/Tamil_language), [Telugu](/source/Telugu_language), [Punjabi](/source/Punjabi_language), [Hindi](/source/Hindi_language) and [Kannada](/source/Kannada). She has directed multiple music videos and films.

## Personal life

Sameksha is a [Punjabi](/source/Punjabis) and she was born on 8 October 1985 in [Chandigarh](/source/Chandigarh).[1][2][*[better source needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Questionable_sources)*] Sameksha later relocated to [Mumbai](/source/Mumbai) to pursue a career in acting and eventually became a director and a producer at SSO Production.

In July 2020, Sameksha married singer [Shael Oswal](/source/Shael_Oswal) in Singapore.[3]

## Career

Sameksha made her debut in the film industry when director [Puri Jagannadh](/source/Puri_Jagannadh) cast her as the lead in the 2004 [Telugu](/source/Telugu_cinema) film *[143](/source/143_(2004_film))*. Months later, she subsequently appeared in the 2005 [Tamil](/source/Tamil_cinema) film *[Arinthum Ariyamalum](/source/Arinthum_Ariyamalum)*,[4] where she starred opposite [Navdeep](/source/Navdeep) and [Arya](/source/Arya_(actor)).[2]

Sameksha earned further success with the 2014 drama *[Fateh](/source/Fateh_(2014_film))*, following which she was awarded the [Balraj Sahni Honour Award](/source/Balraj_Sahni) for contributions to [Punjabi cinema](/source/Punjabi_cinema).[5][6] Sameksha's role in *[Vaapsi](/source/Vaapsi)* (2016) was critically acclaimed in various film festivals.

Sameksha, alongside film work, made her television debut on [Sahara One](/source/Sahara_One)'s *[Zaara – Pyaar ki Saugat](/source/Zaara_(TV_series))*, in the titular role.[7] She also played a parallel lead role in the long-running [soap opera](/source/Soap_opera) *[Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli](/source/Yahaaan_Main_Ghar_Ghar_Kheli)* on [Zee TV](/source/Zee_TV). She also portrayed the role of Roshni in the crime thriller *[Arjun](/source/Arjun_(TV_series))* on [Star Plus](/source/Star_Plus), followed by a stint in the political thriller, *[P.O.W.- Bandi Yuddh Ke](/source/P.O.W.-_Bandi_Yuddh_Ke)*.[8]

From 2017 to 2018, she portrayed [Olympias](/source/Olympias) in [Sony TV](/source/Sony_Entertainment_Television_(India))'s historical drama *[Porus](/source/Porus_(TV_series))* opposite an ensemble cast of [Laksh Lalwani](/source/Laksh_Lalwani), [Rohit Purohit](/source/Rohit_Purohit) and [Rati Pandey](/source/Rati_Pandey).[9][10]

In 2018, she played Parminder in the [Star Plus](/source/Star_Plus) sitcom *[Khichdi Returns](/source/Khichdi_Returns)*.[1] From 2018 to 2019, she played Saudamini in [Colors TV](/source/Colors_TV)'s *[Tantra](/source/Tantra_(TV_series))*.

In 2022, she along with her husband, [Shael Oswal](/source/Shael_Oswal), produced the film *Max, Min and Meowzaki* under their production house - SSO Productions.[11]
