**Samuel Che Glenfield** (born 10 May 2005) is a Northern Irish professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder_(association_football)) for [League of Ireland Premier Division](/source/League_of_Ireland_Premier_Division) club [Waterford](/source/Waterford_F.C.).

## Club career

### Portadown

Glenfield started his career in the youth system at [Portadown](/source/Portadown_F.C.) and went on to make his first team debut at just 15 years of age on 24 October 2020, when he came on as a substitute in the 3–0 defeat to [Coleraine](/source/Coleraine_F.C.) at [Shamrock Park](/source/Shamrock_Park).[3] In the summer of 2021, he signed his first professional contract, a three-year deal, to keep him at the club until 2024.[3]

### Fleetwood Town

On 8 August 2022, he signed for [EFL League One](/source/EFL_League_One) side [Fleetwood Town](/source/Fleetwood_Town_F.C.) and was immediately placed into the under-18 squad.[4] Sixteen days after signing for the club, he was promoted to new manager, [Scott Brown](/source/Scott_Brown_(footballer%2C_born_June_1985))'s, first team squad for the 0–0 draw against [Derby County](/source/Derby_County_F.C.), but he remained an unused substitute.[5] He made his first team debut on 23 August 2022, when he replaced [Cian Hayes](/source/Cian_Hayes) as a substitute in the [EFL Cup](/source/EFL_Cup) second round 1–0 defeat to [Premier League](/source/Premier_League) side [Everton](/source/Everton_F.C.) at [Highbury Stadium](/source/Highbury_Stadium_(Fleetwood)).[6]

### Waterford

On 25 July 2024, Glenfield signed for [League of Ireland Premier Division](/source/League_of_Ireland_Premier_Division) club [Waterford](/source/Waterford_F.C.) on loan until the end of their season in November.[7] On 26 November 2024, it was announced that Glenfield would join Waterford on a permanent basis ahead of their 2025 season.[8] On 7 November 2025, Glenfield came off the bench to score the winner in a 2–1 victory over [Bray Wanderers](/source/Bray_Wanderers_F.C.) in the [2025 League of Ireland Premier Division Promotion/Relegation play-off](/source/2025_League_of_Ireland_Premier_Division#Promotion/relegation_play-off) at [Tolka Park](/source/Tolka_Park), to preserve his side's place in the Premier Division.[9]

## International career

Glenfield has represented Northern Ireland at [under-16](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-16_football_team), [under-17](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-17_football_team), [under-18](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-18_football_team) and [under-19](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-19_football_team) levels.[2]
