**Saket Nagar** is a suburb of [Bhopal](/source/Bhopal), [India](/source/India), on the southern side of the city. It is part of Ward 54 of [Bhopal Municipal Corporation](/source/Bhopal_Municipal_Corporation).[1]

## Etymology

In [Sanskrit](/source/Sanskrit), *Saket* is the ancient name of the city of [Ayodhya](/source/Ayodhya), an important [Hindu](/source/Hindu) religious place, said to be the place of residence for Lord [Rama](/source/Rama).[2] Saket is also the name of a famous epic Hindi poetic work of [Maithili Sharan Gupt](/source/Maithili_Sharan_Gupt), an account of the Ramayana through the eyes of Urmila.[3]

## Population

Saket Nagar is mostly inhabited by retired employees of public sector company [BHEL](/source/BHEL) like its adjacent localities Shakti nagar and Alkapuri.[4]

## Education

Saket Nagar has two major schools nearby namely the Bhopal Public School[5] and Sagar Public School.[6]

## Health

The [All India Institute of Medical Sciences](/source/All_India_Institute_of_Medical_Sciences%2C_Bhopal) has a [medical research](/source/Medical_research) [public university](/source/Public_university) located in the Saket Nagar suburb.[7] It is one of the seven AIIMS established by the [Ministry of Health and Family Welfare](/source/Ministry_of_Health_and_Family_Welfare) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).[8]
