Located in the [Shevchenkivskyi District](/source/Shevchenkivskyi_District%2C_Kyiv) of [Kyiv](/source/Kyiv), the square lies in front of [Saint Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery](/source/St._Michael's_Golden-Domed_Monastery).  It is located about {{cvt|300|m|ft|-2}} northeast of [Sophia Square](/source/Sophia_Square), to which it is connected by {{ill|Volodymyrskyi Passage|uk|Володимирський проїзд}}, and about {{cvt|450|m|ft|-2}} northwest of [Maidan Nezalezhnosti](/source/Maidan_Nezalezhnosti), to which it is connected by {{ill|Michael Street|uk|Михайлівська вулиця (Київ)}}.
