**Saddington Reservoir** is a canal reservoir[2] and 19.1 hectares (47 acres) biological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) south of [Saddington](/source/Saddington) in [Leicestershire](/source/Leicestershire).[1][3] The reservoir was built between 1793 and 1797 to supply water to the [Grand Union Canal](/source/Grand_Union_Canal).[2]

The reservoir has a range of wetland habitats, such as open water, wet willow woodland and swamp. There are a number of nationally scarce beetles, such as *[Carabus monilis](/source/Carabus_monilis)*, *[Atheta basicornis](/source/Atheta_basicornis)*, *[Eledona agricola](/source/Eledona_agricola)* and *[Gyrophaena lucidula](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gyrophaena_lucidula&action=edit&redlink=1)*.[4]

There is public access to the site.
