A '''saccharimeter''', from [Ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greek) σάκχαρ (''sákkhar''), meaning "sugar", and μέτρον (''métron''), meaning "measure", is an instrument for measuring the concentration of [sugar](/source/sugar) solutions.

This is commonly achieved using a measurement of [refractive index](/source/refractive_index) ([refractometer](/source/refractometer)) or the angle of rotation of [polarization](/source/Polarization_(waves)) of optically active sugars ([polarimeter](/source/polarimeter)).

Saccharimeters are used in [food processing](/source/food_processing) industries, [brewing](/source/brewing), and the distilled alcoholic drinks industry.
