# Sabin Point

**Sabin Point** (Bulgarian: нос Сабин, ˈnɔs sɐˈbin) is the ice-covered, rock-tipped northeast entrance point of [Golyam Sechko Cove](/source/Golyam_Sechko_Cove) projecting 250 m from the northwest coast of [Nelson Island](/source/Nelson_Island_(South_Shetland_Islands)) in the [South Shetland Islands](/source/South_Shetland_Islands), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). The area was visited by early 19th century [sealers](/source/Seal_hunting).[1]

The feature is named after the Bulgarian ruler [Khan Sabin](/source/Khan_Sabin), 768-777 AD, in association with other Bulgarian historical names in the area.

## Location

Sabin Point is located at [62°16′29.4″S 59°11′58″W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=62_16_29.4_S_59_11_58_W),[2] which is 1.1 km southwest of [Smilets Point](/source/Smilets_Point). British mapping of the area in 1968.
