'''''SWIV 3D''''' (also known as '''''SWIV 3D Assault''''') is a [3D](/source/3D_computer_graphics) [video game](/source/video_game) [remake](/source/Video_game_remake) of ''[SWIV](/source/SWIV)'' developed and published by [Sales Curve Interactive](/source/Sales_Curve_Interactive) in 1996. It is the last game in the ''Silkworm''/''SWIV'' series and the only game of the series to use a [voxel](/source/voxel)-based 3D engine.

==Gameplay==
In ''SWIV 3D'' the player must pilot a [helicopter](/source/helicopter) navigating through a series of landscapes destroying buildings to fulfil mission goals. There are also opportunities to use an armoured SUV.

==Development==
SCi attempted to license some tracks by [Hallucinogen](/source/Hallucinogen_(musician)) for the soundtrack, but due to a difficulty with getting royalties cleared, they were not able to secure the license in time for the game's release.<ref>{{cite magazine |title=The Future Sound of Game Music|magazine=[Next Generation](/source/Next_Generation_(magazine))|issue=24 |publisher=[Imagine Media](/source/Imagine_Media)|date=December 1996|page=90}}</ref>

In early 1997, [Interplay Productions](/source/Interplay_Productions) bought the U.S. publishing rights for the game from Sales Curve, intending to publish the game for the [PlayStation](/source/PlayStation_(console)) in June 1997.<ref>{{cite magazine |title=Inside Scoop|magazine=[GamePro](/source/GamePro)|issue=104 |publisher=[IDG](/source/International_Data_Group)|date=May 1997|page=24}}</ref> However, this version of the game was never released. Interplay did, however, re-release the game as ''SWIV 3D Assault'' in the US. Its only notable in-game difference was the implementation of [Glide](/source/Glide_(API)) support.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.interplay.com/games/swiv.html |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/19980116234208/http://www.interplay.com/games/swiv.html |title=Swiv |website=[Interplay Productions](/source/Interplay_Productions) |archive-date=January 16, 1998 |access-date=November 22, 2025}}</ref>
