'''Translocation protein SEC62''' is a [protein](/source/protein) that in humans is encoded by the ''SEC62'' [gene](/source/gene).<ref name="pmid9020021">{{cite journal | vauthors = Daimon M, Susa S, Suzuki K, Kato T, Yamatani K, Sasaki H | title = Identification of a human cDNA homologue to the Drosophila translocation protein 1 (Dtrp1) | journal = Biochem Biophys Res Commun | volume = 230 | issue = 1 | pages = 100–4 |date=Feb 1997 | pmid = 9020021 | doi = 10.1006/bbrc.1996.5892 }}</ref><ref name="pmid10799540">{{cite journal | vauthors = Meyer HA, Grau H, Kraft R, Kostka S, Prehn S, Kalies KU, Hartmann E | title = Mammalian Sec61 is associated with Sec62 and Sec63 | journal = J Biol Chem | volume = 275 | issue = 19 | pages = 14550–7 |date=Jun 2000 | pmid = 10799540 | doi =10.1074/jbc.275.19.14550  | doi-access = free }}</ref><ref name="entrez">{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: TLOC1 translocation protein 1| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=7095}}</ref>

== Function ==

The [Sec61](/source/Sec61) complex is the central component of the protein translocation apparatus of the [endoplasmic reticulum](/source/endoplasmic_reticulum) (ER) membrane. The protein encoded by this gene and [SEC63](/source/SEC63) protein are found to be associated with [ribosome](/source/ribosome)-free SEC61 complex. It is speculated that Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 may perform post-translational protein translocation into the ER. The Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 complex might also perform the backward transport of ER proteins that are subject to the [ubiquitin](/source/ubiquitin)-[proteasome](/source/proteasome)-dependent degradation pathway. The encoded protein is an [integral membrane protein](/source/integral_membrane_protein) located in the rough ER.<ref name="entrez" />
