**Ryno Eksteen** (born 3 October 1994 in [Centurion](/source/Centurion%2C_Gauteng)) is a former South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player for the [Seattle Seawolves](/source/Seattle_Seawolves) in [Major League Rugby](/source/Major_League_Rugby). He previously played for the [Free State Cheetahs](/source/Cheetahs_(rugby_union)) in the [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) and the [Free State XV](/source/Cheetahs_(rugby_union)) in the [Rugby Challenge](/source/Rugby_Challenge_(South_Africa)).[1] His regular position is fly-half or full-back.

## Career

Eksteen represented the [Blue Bulls](/source/Bulls_(rugby_union)) in the 2010 Under-16 Grant Khomo Week competition and in the 2012 Under-18 [Craven Week](/source/Craven_Week) tournament, where he was top points scorer for the tournament and helped the Blue Bulls win the unofficial final against the [Golden Lions](/source/Lions_(United_Rugby_Championship)).[2] His performance saw him called up to the 2012 South African Schools side[3] that played against France,[4] Wales[5] and England[6] in August 2012.

He joined the [Western Province](/source/Stormers) Rugby Institute for the 2013 season[2] – moving in the opposite direction to Western Province's Craven Week and fellow S.A. Schools fly-half [Handré Pollard](/source/Handr%C3%A9_Pollard), who joined the [Blue Bulls](/source/Bulls_(rugby_union)). However, a knee injury ruled him out of action for the 2013 season.[7]

## Stormers

He was included in the pre-season training squad for the [Stormers](/source/Stormers) prior to the [2014 Super Rugby season](/source/2014_Super_Rugby_season)[8] and also made the final Stormers squad.[9]

He made his [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) debut in the opening match of the season, a 34–10 loss to the [Lions](/source/Lions_(United_Rugby_Championship)).[10] Incredibly, he played Super Rugby without making any appearances in the South African domestic [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) and [Vodacom Cup](/source/Vodacom_Cup) competitions, or even playing at Under-21 or Under-19 level for [Western Province](/source/Stormers).
