# Ryan Swoboda

**Ryan Swoboda** (born September 19, 1998) is an American former [football](/source/American_football) [offensive tackle](/source/Offensive_tackle). He played [college football](/source/College_football) at [Virginia](/source/Virginia_Cavaliers_football) and [UCF](/source/UCF_Knights_football).

## Early life and education

Swoboda committed to play [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Virginia Cavaliers](/source/Virginia_Cavaliers_football) after attending [Windermere Preparatory School](/source/Windermere_Preparatory_School).[1] He was a member of the Cavaliers football team from 2017 until transferring to [UCF](/source/UCF_Knights_football) in 2022.[2][3] He played in the [NFLPA Collegiate Bowl](/source/NFLPA_Collegiate_Bowl) following the 2022 season.[4]

## Professional career

### Detroit Lions

On May 12, 2023, the [Detroit Lions](/source/Detroit_Lions) signed Swoboda to a three-year, $2.705 million contract as an undrafted free agent.[5][6] He was waived on August 29, 2023.[7]

### New York Jets

On August 31, 2023, Swoboda was signed to the [practice squad](/source/Practice_squad) of the [New York Jets](/source/New_York_Jets).[8] He was released on September 21.[9]

### Atlanta Falcons

On December 27, 2023, Swoboda was signed to the [Atlanta Falcons](/source/Atlanta_Falcons) practice squad.[10] Following the end of the 2023 regular season, he signed a reserve/future contract on January 10, 2024.[11] He was waived with a non-football injury designation on May 7, 2024.[12]
