**Ryan Sutton** (born 2 August 1995) is an English [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) footballer who plays as a [prop](/source/Rugby_league_positions#prop_forward) and [loose forward](/source/Rugby_league_positions#Loose_forward_/_Lock_forward) for the [Bradford Bulls](/source/Bradford_Bulls) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League).

He previously played for the [Canberra Raiders](/source/Canberra_Raiders) and [Canterbury Bulldogs](/source/Canterbury-Bankstown_Bulldogs) in the NRL and the [Wigan Warriors](/source/Wigan_Warriors) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League), and on loan from [Wigan](/source/Wigan_Warriors) at [Workington Town](/source/Workington_Town) in the [Kingstone Press Championship](/source/2015_RFL_Championship).

## Background

Sutton was born in [Billinge](/source/Billinge_Hospital), [Wigan](/source/Wigan), England. He played junior [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) for [Ince Rose Bridge](/source/Ince_Rose_Bridge).[4]

## Career

### Wigan Warriors

Sutton made his team début as a substitute on 21 April 2014 in an 84–6 sweep over the [Bradford Bulls](/source/Bradford_Bulls).[5] He made his first starting appearance for Wigan against Salford.

He played in the [2016 Super League Grand Final](/source/2016_Super_League_Grand_Final) victory over the [Warrington Wolves](/source/Warrington_Wolves) at [Old Trafford](/source/Old_Trafford).[6]

Sutton played in the [2017 Challenge Cup Final](/source/2017_Challenge_Cup_Final) defeat by [Hull F.C.](/source/Hull_F.C.) at [Wembley Stadium](/source/Wembley_Stadium).[7]

Sutton played in the [2018 Super League Grand Final](/source/2018_Super_League_Grand_Final) victory over the [Warrington Wolves](/source/Warrington_Wolves) at [Old Trafford](/source/Old_Trafford).[8] Sutton signed with the [Canberra Raiders](/source/Canberra_Raiders) for the [2019 NRL season](/source/2019_NRL_season).[9]

### Canberra Raiders

Sutton made a total of 20 appearances for Canberra in the [2019 NRL season](/source/2019_NRL_season) as the club reached their first grand final in 25 years. He did not play in the [2019 NRL Grand Final](/source/2019_NRL_Grand_Final) in which Canberra were defeated by the [Sydney Roosters](/source/Sydney_Roosters) 14-8 at [ANZ Stadium](/source/ANZ_Stadium). Sutton went on to play a total of 75 games for Canberra between 2019 and 2022.[10]

### Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

On 3 March 2022, [The Daily Telegraph](/source/The_Daily_Telegraph) reported that Sutton had signed a three-year deal with the [Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs](/source/Canterbury-Bankstown_Bulldogs) from 2023 onwards. He made his club debut in round 1 of the [2023 NRL season](/source/2023_NRL_season) against the [Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles](/source/Manly_Warringah_Sea_Eagles) which Canterbury lost 31-6.[11] Sutton played a total of 13 matches for Canterbury in the [2023 NRL season](/source/2023_NRL_season) as the club finished 15th on the table.[12] On 18 March 2025, the Canterbury outfit released Sutton from the remainder of his playing conrtract.[13] On 9 May 2025, it was reported that Sutton had signed a contract to join the [Gold Coast](/source/Gold_Coast_Titans) for the remainder of the [2025 NRL season](/source/2025_NRL_season).[14]

### Bradford Bulls

On 18 November 2025 it was reported that he had signed for [Bradford Bulls](/source/Bradford_Bulls) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League) on a 2-year deal.[15]

## International career

In July 2018 he was selected in the [England Knights](/source/England_Knights) Performance squad.[16]

He was selected in [England 9s](/source/England_9s) squad for the [2019 Rugby League World Cup 9s](/source/2019_Rugby_League_World_Cup_9s).[17]
