## Career

Born in [Kitchener](/source/Kitchener%2C_Ontario), [Ontario](/source/Ontario), Roth competed as a professional from 2002, making his début with the Sympatico–Jet Fuel Coffee team. After a short stint with the [Kelly Benefit Strategies–Medifast](/source/Human_Powered_Health_(men's_team)) team,[4] Roth competed for the SpiderTech–C10 team from its formation as a professional team at the start of 2008, when it was known as Team R.A.C.E. Pro.[5] Having featured highly in several North and Central American races during his career, Roth won his first [UCI Europe Tour](/source/UCI_Continental_Circuits#UCI_Europe_Tour) race in April [2012](/source/2012_UCI_Europe_Tour), by winning the [Tro-Bro Léon](/source/2012_Tro-Bro_L%C3%A9on) race. Roth soloed to victory in [Lannilis](/source/Lannilis) after catching the breakaway and went clear of them,[6] finishing thirteen seconds clear of his nearest rival, Benoit Jarrier of Véranda Rideau U.[7] It was the first non-French victory in the race since [Mark Renshaw](/source/Mark_Renshaw) in 2006,[8] and was his team's first victory of the year.[9] Roth also won the 2012 [Canadian National Road Race Championships](/source/Canadian_National_Road_Race_Championships).[10]
