**Gary "Ryan" Mack** (born November 13, 1979, in [Birmingham, Michigan](/source/Birmingham%2C_Michigan)) is an American [soccer](/source/Soccer) [midfielder](/source/Midfielder) who played for the [Syracuse Silver Knights](/source/Syracuse_Silver_Knights) of the [MISL](/source/Major_Indoor_Soccer_League_(2008%E2%80%93)).

## Youth

Mack was the Michigan High School Player of the Year as a soccer player at [Seaholm High School](/source/Seaholm_High_School). He attended [Indiana University](/source/Indiana_University_(Bloomington)) where he played on the men's soccer team from 1998 to 2002. In 1998 and 1999, the Hoosiers won the [NCAA Men's Soccer Championship](/source/NCAA_Division_I_men's_soccer_tournament). He was a 2000 third team All American,[2] but missed the 2001 season with a torn [anterior cruciate ligament](/source/Anterior_cruciate_ligament), returning for a final season in 2002.

## Professional

On January 17, 2003, the [Chicago Fire](/source/Chicago_Fire_S.C.) selected Mack in the third round (25th overall) in the [2003 MLS SuperDraft](/source/2003_MLS_SuperDraft). In 2004, he played for the [Syracuse Salty Dogs](/source/Syracuse_Salty_Dogs) of the [USL A-League](/source/USL_A-League).[3] Mack played for the [San Diego Sockers](/source/San_Diego_Sockers_(2001%E2%80%9304)) during the 2004-2005 [Major Indoor Soccer League](/source/Major_Indoor_Soccer_League_(2001%E2%80%932008)) season.[4] The Sockers folded mid-season. He then played for the [Virginia Beach Mariners](/source/Virginia_Beach_Mariners) during the 2006 USL-1 season.[5] On October 5, 2006, the expansion [Detroit Ignition](/source/Detroit_Ignition) of [Major Indoor Soccer League](/source/Major_Indoor_Soccer_League_(2001%E2%80%932008)) signed Mack for the team's first season. The Ignition had selected Mack with the 12th pick in the 2006 MISL Expansion Draft.[6] He played for the Ignition until they folded in 2009. That fall, Mack moved to the [Milwaukee Wave](/source/Milwaukee_Wave) where he spent two seasons. In November 2011, he signed with the [Detroit Waza](/source/Detroit_Waza) of the [Professional Arena Soccer League](/source/Professional_Arena_Soccer_League). In 2012, he returned to Syracuse and signed for the [MISL](/source/Major_Indoor_Soccer_League_(2008%E2%80%93)) side the [Syracuse Silver Knights](/source/Syracuse_Silver_Knights).
