Drafted by the [Chicago Cubs](/source/Chicago_Cubs) in the 2nd round of the [1990 Major League Baseball draft](/source/1990_Major_League_Baseball_draft). Hawblitzel would make his [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) (MLB) debut with the [Colorado Rockies](/source/Colorado_Rockies) on June 9, 1996, and appeared in his final game on August 5, 1996.

==High school career==
Hawblitzel attended [John I.
