He graduated from the [Walter Cronkite School of Journalism](/source/Walter_Cronkite_School_of_Journalism_and_Mass_Communication) at [Arizona State University](/source/Arizona_State_University) in 1985 and began his television career at KYEL-TV in [Yuma, Arizona](/source/Yuma%2C_Arizona).
