# Rural Municipality of Harrison

The **Rural Municipality of Harrison** is a former [rural municipality](/source/List_of_rural_municipalities_in_Manitoba) (RM) in the [Canadian](/source/Canada) [province](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of Manitoba. It was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on December 22, 1883.[1] It ceased on January 1, 2015 as a result of its [provincially mandated](/source/Manitoba_municipal_amalgamations,_2015) [amalgamation](/source/Merger_(politics)) with the [RM of Park](/source/Rural_Municipality_of_Park) to form the [Municipality of Harrison Park](/source/Municipality_of_Harrison_Park).[2] In 1891, the Harrison subdistrict had a population of 437.[3]

The RM was located north of Brandon on the [Yellowhead Highway](/source/Yellowhead_Highway) with its offices at [Newdale, Manitoba](/source/Newdale,_Manitoba). The main reserve of the [Rolling River First Nation](/source/Rolling_River_First_Nation) lied within the east-central portion of the RM. The RM was named for [David Howard Harrison](/source/David_Howard_Harrison) who became premier of Manitoba in 1887.
