# Rural Mount

**Rural Mount** is a historic mansion in [Morristown, Tennessee](/source/Morristown,_Tennessee), U.S.. It was built with [ashlar](/source/Ashlar) stones circa 1799 by frontiersman [Alexander Outlaw](/source/Alexander_Outlaw) for his son-in-law, Joseph Hamilton.[2] It was designed in the [Federal architectural style](/source/Federal_architecture).[2] It has been listed on the [National Register of Historic Places](/source/National_Register_of_Historic_Places_listings_in_Hamblen_County,_Tennessee) since July 30, 1975.[3]
