**Rupert Hitzig** (born August 15, 1938) is an American [director](/source/Film_director), [producer](/source/Film_producer), [actor](/source/Actor) and [screenwriter](/source/Screenwriter). He graduated from [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University).[1]

## Career

With executive producer [Berry Gordy](/source/Berry_Gordy) he produced *[The Last Dragon](/source/The_Last_Dragon)* (1985), directed by [Michael Schultz](/source/Michael_Schultz) and written by Louis Venosta.[2] With [Robert Boris](/source/Robert_Boris) he wrote the screenplay for *[Electra Glide in Blue](/source/Electra_Glide_in_Blue)* (1973), directed by [James William Guercio](/source/James_William_Guercio) and starring [Robert Blake](/source/Robert_Blake_(actor)), [Billy Green Bush](/source/Billy_Green_Bush) and [Mitchell Ryan](/source/Mitchell_Ryan).[3] With [Alan Landsburg](/source/Alan_Landsburg) he produced *[Jaws 3-D](/source/Jaws_3-D)* (1983), directed by [Joe Alves](/source/Joe_Alves) and James Contner as director of photography.[4]

He was looking to direct his first film for under a million of dollars. [Chris Black](/source/Chris_Black_(screenwriter)) grabbed a copy of *The Boy Who Cried Devil* and passed it along. Thanks to Black, Richard Corey, Scott Hill and Hitzig, started *[Night Visitor](/source/Night_Visitor)* (1989).[5]
