**Rupert Bay** is a large bay located on the south-east shore of [James Bay](/source/James_Bay), in Canada. Although the coast is part of the province of [Quebec](/source/Quebec), the waters of the bay are under jurisdiction of the [territory](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [Nunavut](/source/Nunavut).[1]

## Geography

This bay has a width of 16 km (9.9 mi) and a length of 32 km (20 mi).[2] It is the largest arm of [James Bay](/source/James_Bay). The [Rupert](/source/Rupert_River), [Nottaway](/source/Nottaway_River) and [Broadback Rivers](/source/Broadback_River) empty into this bay.[3] The Cree village of [Waskaganish](/source/Waskaganish) is on the eastern shores of the bay.
