This is the third game in the *Rugby Challenge* series. It is the sequel to *[Rugby Challenge](/source/Rugby_Challenge_(video_game))* and *[Rugby Challenge 2](/source/Rugby_Challenge_2)*, both of which were developed by [Sidhe](/source/Sidhe_(game_developer)).[1] *Rugby Challenge 3* was released on [PlayStation 4](/source/PlayStation_4), [Xbox One](/source/Xbox_One), [PlayStation 3](/source/PlayStation_3), [Xbox 360](/source/Xbox_360) on April 14, 2016 in New Zealand, and in Australia on April 22, 2016. It was released for [Microsoft Windows](/source/Microsoft_Windows) on June 24, 2016.

*Rugby Challenge 3* is the first game in the series to include the [seven-a-side variant of rugby union](/source/Rugby_sevens). It is also the first in the series to include a licence for SANZAR teams. However, it does not feature the [Top 14](/source/Top_14) or [The Pro12](/source/Pro14).

### Extensive customisation

As a tradition in Rugby Challenge titles, players will have the ability to extensively customise the players and teams and will be able to do so even more extensively this time with the new FanHub, where players can be uploaded to share with the community. A demo version of the FanHub for Windows was released on 28 July 2015 when the game was officially announced.[2]
