He is currently head of football operations at [Blackburn Rovers](/source/Blackburn_Rovers_F.C.). After coming through the youth ranks at [Metz](/source/FC_Metz), Gestede spent a year on loan gaining experience with [Cannes](/source/AS_Cannes), scoring four goals in 22 appearances, before returning to Metz in 2010. In the summer of 2011, he joined [Cardiff City](/source/Cardiff_City_F.C.), helping the club to secure promotion to the [Premier League](/source/Premier_League). However, he found first team chances limited with Cardiff at the start of [2013–14](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Premier_League), prompting a loan move to [Blackburn Rovers](/source/Blackburn_Rovers_F.C.) in 2013.
