RuStore Operating system Aurora, iOS, Hyper OS, Android, and Harmony OS Website www.rustore.ru

**RuStore** is Russia’s official, state-sponsored [app store](/source/App_store), launched on May 25, 2022 by [VK Corporation](/source/VK_(company)) in cooperation with Russia’s [Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation](/source/Minkomsvyaz).[1]

## History

[Alphabet Inc.](/source/Alphabet_Inc.) limited their operations in Russia after the [invasion of Ukraine](/source/Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine) and eventually ceased operating in Russia.[2][3] RuStore was created to replace [Google Play](/source/Google_Play).

The beta version of the service launched on May 25, 2022 for Android only. For some developers, a personal account was opened, which allows you to independently download applications. Security scanning software by [Kaspersky Lab](/source/Kaspersky_Lab) and VK were integrated into the service. At launch, about 150 applications were available.[4][5]

On November 18, 2023, at the RuStore Mobile Conf Conference,[6][7] it was announced that from 2024, the Russian RuStore app store will be installed on all smartphones running the domestic [Aurora](/source/Aurora_OS_(Russian_Open_mobile_platform)) operating system.

On July 7, 2025, [Putin](/source/Vladimir_Putin) signed a law on the mandatory installation of RuStore for foreign manufacturers of smartphones sold in Russia.[8]

## Usage

It must be preinstalled on [iOS](/source/IOS), [Hyper OS](/source/Hyper_OS), [Android](/source/Android_(operating_system)), and [Harmony OS](/source/Harmony_OS) devices by law for Russian users.[9][10]

In October 2022 the monthly active users of RuStore surpassed 7 million people. This is based on the results of the October 2022 Cross Web Mediascope study, implemented on the Android-only approach. Twenty-five of the most popular Russian applications and about 3,000 other services from more than 1,800 developers are already available in the app store.[11]
