# Rowe Bluff

**Rowe Bluff** ([68°1′S 65°33′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=68_1_S_65_33_W)) is a bluff rising to 1,200 m on the north side of [Trail Inlet](/source/Trail_Inlet), [Bowman Coast](/source/Bowman_Coast), 5 nautical miles (9 km) northeast of [Williamson Bluff](/source/Williamson_Bluff). The bluff was photographed from the air by [Lincoln Ellsworth](/source/Lincoln_Ellsworth), November 21, 1935, and was mapped from these photographs by [W.L.G. Joerg](/source/W.L.G._Joerg). It appears in subsequent American photographs from [United States Antarctic Service](/source/United_States_Antarctic_Service) (USAS), 1940, and was surveyed by [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) (FIDS), 1946–48. Named by [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) in 1977 for Lieutenant Commander [Gary L. Rowe](/source/Gary_L._Rowe), USCG, [Engineer Officer](/source/Engineer_Officer) on USCGC [Burton Island](/source/Burton_Island), [U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze](/source/U.S._Navy_Operation_Deep_Freeze), 1975.
