'''Rossini Point''' ({{coord|72|28|S|73|9|W|display=inline,title}}) is a snow-covered point on the south coast of [Alexander Island](/source/Alexander_Island), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). This headland marks the southeast side of the entrance to the embayment occupied by [Bach Ice Shelf](/source/Bach_Ice_Shelf). First seen and roughly mapped by the [United States Antarctic Service](/source/United_States_Antarctic_Service) (USAS), 1939–41. Remapped in greater detail from air photos obtained by the [Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition](/source/Ronne_Antarctic_Research_Expedition) (RARE), 1947–48, by [Derek J.H. Searle](/source/Derek_J.H._Searle) of the [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) (FIDS) in 1960. Named by the [United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/United_Kingdom_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) (UK-APC) for [Gioacchino Rossini](/source/Gioacchino_Rossini) (1792–1868), Italian [composer](/source/composer).
