**Ronald Joseph Arculli** ([Chinese](/source/Traditional_Chinese_characters): 夏佳理; born 2 January 1939 in Hong Kong) is former chairman of [Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing](/source/Hong_Kong_Exchanges_and_Clearing), Non-official Members Convenor of the [Executive Council of Hong Kong](/source/Executive_Council_of_Hong_Kong) (Exco) and a senior partner at [King & Wood Mallesons](/source/King_%26_Wood_Mallesons).[1] He is a Hong Kong solicitor and a founding partner of the law firm, Arculli, Fong, & Ng, which later merged with [King & Wood Mallesons](/source/King_%26_Wood_Mallesons).[2]

## Early life

Arculli was born to an [Indian](/source/Indian_people) father and a [Chinese](/source/Chinese_people) mother. His parents divorced when he was three.[3] After graduating from [St Joseph's College](/source/St_Joseph's_College%2C_Hong_Kong) in 1956,[4] he was sent to study in England and finished his A-levels in 1958.[5] After this he returned to Hong Kong and eventually became a barrister and solicitor in both the bars of [Hong Kong](/source/Hong_Kong_Bar_Association) and [England](/source/Barristers_in_England_and_Wales).[3]

## Career

Arculli was a member of the [Legislative Council of Hong Kong](/source/Legislative_Council_of_Hong_Kong) and the deputy chairman of the [Liberal Party](/source/Liberal_Party_(Hong_Kong)).[6] He is also a member of the board of directors of the [Asia Art Archive](/source/Asia_Art_Archive) and the former chairman of the [Hong Kong Jockey Club](/source/Hong_Kong_Jockey_Club).[7] Among his current responsibilities, he is currently a senior partner with [King & Wood Mallesons](/source/King_%26_Wood_Mallesons).

Arculli has been a non-official member of Exco since 2005 and was made Non-official Members Convenor in October 2011 following the resignation of [CY Leung](/source/Leung_Chun-ying) to stand in the [2012 Hong Kong Chief Executive election](/source/2012_Hong_Kong_Chief_Executive_election).[8] He has also been inducted as Honorary Fellow of [Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hong_Kong_Securities_and_Investment_Institute&action=edit&redlink=1) (HKSI) on 24 October 2013. In 2013, he was also appointed as the chairman of Richard Li Tzar-kai new venture, FWD.[9]

## Personal life

Arculli speaks [English](/source/English_language) and [Cantonese](/source/Cantonese) (but cannot read or write [Chinese](/source/Written_Chinese)).[10]

With his Austrian-born wife Joanne, he has three children. He also has two children from a previous marriage, and three grandchildren. His brother-in-law (married to his sister Rhoda Arculli) is his stockbroker and the brother of [Court of Final Appeal](/source/Court_of_Final_Appeal_(Hong_Kong)) judge [Kemal Bokhary](/source/Kemal_Bokhary).[11] From 2002 to 2006, Arculli served as Chairman of the [Hong Kong Jockey Club](/source/Hong_Kong_Jockey_Club).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
