'''Ronald Lee Shoop''' (September 19, 1931 – March 14, 2003) was an American professional [baseball](/source/baseball) player and [catcher](/source/catcher), who played part of the {{mlby|1959}} season for the [Detroit Tigers](/source/Detroit_Tigers). Shoop batted and threw right-handed, stood {{convert|5|ft|11|in}} tall and weighed {{convert|180|lb}}. His professional career extended for ten years (1951–52 and 1955–62). He missed the 1953–54 seasons while performing military service.

For his MLB career, Shoop compiled a .143 [batting average](/source/batting_average_(baseball)) in seven [at-bat](/source/at-bat)s, with one [run batted in](/source/run_batted_in). His lone hit, a [single](/source/single_(baseball)), came off [Bob Shaw](/source/Bob_Shaw_(baseball)) of the [Chicago White Sox](/source/Chicago_White_Sox) in Shoop's final big-league game.

He was born and later died in [Rural Valley, Pennsylvania](/source/Rural_Valley%2C_Pennsylvania), at the age of 71.
