'''''Romnalda''''' is a [genus](/source/genus) of [monocotyledonous](/source/monocotyledonous) plants in the [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) [Asparagaceae](/source/Asparagaceae), subfamily [Lomandroideae](/source/Lomandroideae).<ref name=Angiosperm-Phylogeny-Website/> (They have also been placed in the [Xanthorrhoeaceae](/source/Xanthorrhoeaceae).) {{As of|2013|Dec}} four formally named species are known and accepted by botanical science.<ref name=APNI/><ref name=Conran-et-al.-2008/><ref name=WCSP-Romnalda/>

The name ''Romnalda'' is an [anagram](/source/anagram) of ''[Lomandra](/source/Lomandra)'', a related though more common genus of hard–leaved lily-like plants. The genus ''Romnalda'' differs from Lomandra in growing exclusively in [rainforests](/source/rainforests) and having sparsely branched [inflorescences](/source/inflorescences) with no spines.

Plants have strap-like leaves and grow up to one metre (3 feet) tall often with a trunk and stilt roots reminiscent of a miniature ''[Pandanus](/source/Pandanus)''.
Species of ''Romnalda'' grow naturally in [Queensland](/source/Queensland) and [Papua New Guinea](/source/Papua_New_Guinea).

==Species==

Cooper Creek (P.I.Forster+ PIF4402) Qld Herbarium – only found in a few isolated locations around [Cooper Creek](/source/Cooper_Creek), [Wet Tropics region](/source/Wet_Tropics_of_Queensland), north-eastern Queensland; and has obtained the [Queensland](/source/Queensland) government's official conservation status listing of "vulnerable" species.<ref name=QLD-NatureConWiR06/>
* ''[R. papuana](/source/Romnalda_papuana)'' – only found in a handful of locations in [Papua New Guinea](/source/Papua_New_Guinea) including the island of [New Britain](/source/New_Britain).<ref name=PNG-Herbarium-poster/>
* ''[R. strobilacea](/source/Romnalda_strobilacea)'' – restricted to [basaltic](/source/basaltic) soils north of Brisbane in [South East Queensland](/source/South_East_Queensland), Australia;<ref name=Mangroves-to-Mountains/> and has obtained the Australian national and [Queensland](/source/Queensland) governments' official conservation status listings of "vulnerable" species.<ref name=QLD-NatureConWiR06/><ref name=EPBC-SPRAT-R.-strobilacea/>
