# Rolde

**Rolde** (ˈrɔldə) is a village in the [Dutch](/source/Netherlands) [province](/source/Provinces_of_the_Netherlands) of [Drenthe](/source/Drenthe). Located in the [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_the_Netherlands) of [Aa en Hunze](/source/Aa_en_Hunze), it lies about 6 km (3.7 mi) east of [Assen](/source/Assen). In 2021, Rolde had a population of 3,905.[1] Famous YouTuber [Enzo Knol](/source/Enzo_Knol)[2] was born in Rolde.

## History

Rolde was a separate municipality until 1998, when it became a part of the newly established municipality of Aa en Hunze.[3]

Although facilities are limited, Rolde possesses a [ten-pin bowling](/source/Ten-pin_bowling) alley. There are also two *[hunebeds](/source/Hunebed)* on a site east of the church. The [windmill](/source/Windmill) has been restored to working order.
