# Rolava

The **Rolava** (German: *Rohlau*) is a [river](/source/River) in the [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic), a left [tributary](/source/Tributary) of the [Ohře](/source/Oh%C5%99e) River. It flows through the [Karlovy Vary Region](/source/Karlovy_Vary_Region). It is 36.6 km (22.7 mi) long.

## Characteristic

The Rolava originates in the territory of [Přebuz](/source/P%C5%99ebuz) in the [Ore Mountains](/source/Ore_Mountains) at an elevation of 921 m (3,022 ft) and flows to [Karlovy Vary](/source/Karlovy_Vary), where it enters the Ohře River at an elevation of 370 m (1,210 ft). It is 36.6 km (22.7 mi) long. Its [drainage basin](/source/Drainage_basin) has an area of 138.0 km2 (53.3 sq mi).[1]

## Course

The most notable settlement on the river is the city of [Karlovy Vary](/source/Karlovy_Vary). The river flows through the municipal territories of [Přebuz](/source/P%C5%99ebuz), [Vysoká Pec](/source/Vysok%C3%A1_Pec_(Karlovy_Vary_District)), [Nové Hamry](/source/Nov%C3%A9_Hamry), [Nejdek](/source/Nejdek), [Smolné Pece](/source/Smoln%C3%A9_Pece), [Nová Role](/source/Nov%C3%A1_Role) and Karlovy Vary.

## Bodies of water

There are 154 bodies of water in the basin area. The largest of them is the Lesík Reservoir with an area of 9.3 ha (23 acres), built on the Nejdecký potok.[1] North of the Rolava's source is the [raised bog](/source/Raised_bog) of [Velké jeřábí jezero](/source/Gro%C3%9Fer_Kranichsee), whose waters the Rolava partly collects.
