==Early life and education==
Crowe was born to working class parents in [Saskatoon, Saskatchewan](/source/Saskatoon%2C_Saskatchewan), moving to Spruce Grove, [Alberta](/source/Alberta) in 1969. After completing an honours [bachelor of arts](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) degree at the [University of Alberta](/source/University_of_Alberta), Crowe moved to Toronto to complete graduate studies in [community psychology](/source/community_psychology) and arts-based research at the [Ontario Institute for Studies in Education](/source/Ontario_Institute_for_Studies_in_Education) at the [University of Toronto](/source/University_of_Toronto).
