The last team in which he played was [Stade Français](/source/Stade_Fran%C3%A7ais) in the [Top 14](/source/Top_14).[1][2] He has also played for [Gloucester Rugby](/source/Gloucester_Rugby) in the [Guinness Premiership](/source/Guinness_Premiership) from 2002[3] to 2004.[4] Roncero also played for [Argentina](/source/Argentina_national_rugby_union_team), usually as a [prop](/source/Rugby_union_positions#1._Loosehead_prop_.26_3._Tighthead_prop). Whilst at Gloucester he was a replacement in the [2003 Powergen Cup Final](/source/2002%E2%80%9303_Powergen_Cup) in which Gloucester defeated [Northampton Saints](/source/Northampton_Saints).[5] Like his teammate [Felipe Contepomi](/source/Felipe_Contepomi), Rodrigo is a qualified doctor. Roncero made his first appearance for Argentina on 15 September 1998 in a match against [Japan](/source/Japan_national_rugby_union_team).[6] He made three appearances in 2002 as well. Roncero was included in a mid-week Pumas side to play [South Africa A](/source/South_Africa_A_national_rugby_union_team), that [Marcelo Loffreda](/source/Marcelo_Loffreda) was using to determine part of his squad for the [2003 Rugby World Cup](/source/2003_Rugby_World_Cup). He was included in the Pumas' [2003 Rugby World Cup](/source/2003_Rugby_World_Cup) squad, playing in matches against [Namibia](/source/Namibia_national_rugby_union_team) and [Romania](/source/Romania_national_rugby_union_team). He was capped five times for Argentina in 2004, including in a match against the [All Blacks](/source/All_Blacks). Roncero played another five times for Argentina in 2005. He also played in Argentina's 2006 mid-year series against [Wales](/source/Wales_national_rugby_union_team) and the All Blacks. In 2007 he was selected to join the Argentina squad for the [2007 Rugby World Cup](/source/2007_Rugby_World_Cup) which succeed in gaining Argentina's highest world cup finish of third place. He played five internationals in 2008 and five in 2009. In the issue of [Rugby World](/source/Rugby_World) magazine published in December 2009 (and dated January 2010), the columnist [Stephen Jones](/source/Stephen_Jones_(journalist)) ranked Roncero as the ninth best player in the world at the time of his writing.[7] Rodrigo was part of [Argentine squad](/source/2011_Rugby_World_Cup_squads#Argentina) for the [2011](/source/2011_Rugby_World_Cup) [Rugby World Cup](/source/Rugby_World_Cup) in New Zealand. He has developed a reputation as one of the world game's most destructive scrummagers.
