==Naval career==
Lloyd became Commodore in Charge at [Jamaica](/source/Jamaica), with his [broad pennant](/source/broad_pennant) in the [troopship](/source/troopship) [HMS ''Urgent''](/source/HMS_Urgent_(1855)), in September 1889 and, having been promoted to [rear admiral](/source/rear_admiral) on 4 March 1894, he became Admiral Superintendent of [Malta Dockyard](/source/Malta_Dockyard) in February 1897.<ref>Clowes, The Royal Navy.
