**Rockers Revenge** was a [studio](/source/Recording_studio) [musical project](/source/Musical_ensemble), assembled by [producer](/source/Record_producer) [Arthur Baker](/source/Arthur_Baker_(musician)) in 1982.[1] The group is most remembered by their 1982 post-[disco](/source/Disco) hit "[Walking on Sunshine](/source/Walking_on_Sunshine_(Eddy_Grant_song)#Rockers_Revenge_version)", which peaked at number 1 on the US Dance Chart and number 4 in the UK.[2]

## Biography

The project was a collaboration of record producer Arthur Baker[1] and [reggae](/source/Reggae) vocalist Donnie Calvin. Baker primarily focused on the engineering and mixing while Donnie provided lead vocals. Tina B, who is married to Arthur Baker, contributed with backing vocals, writing and arrangement. There was also a backing vocalist called Dwight Hawkes. The group experimented with early elements of [freestyle music](/source/Freestyle_music).[3]

The [dance club](/source/Dance_club) mixes were created by [Jellybean Benitez](/source/Jellybean_Benitez). The group's initial entry on the [Hot Dance Club Play](/source/Hot_Dance_Club_Play) [chart](/source/Record_chart), "[Walking on Sunshine](/source/Walking_on_Sunshine_(Eddy_Grant_song))" (an [Eddy Grant](/source/Eddy_Grant) composition, featuring [vocals](/source/Singing) by Donnie Calvin) hit [#1](/source/Chart-topper) on the [U.S.](/source/United_States) dance chart in 1982. The track reached #4 in the [UK Singles Chart](/source/UK_Singles_Chart) in September 1982.[4] Follow-ups "[The Harder They Come](/source/The_Harder_They_Come_(song))" (1983) and "Living for the Weekend" (1984) also charted.

The project disbanded in 1984, due to the lack of chart success. Arthur moved to other projects and Donnie retired from his music career.

In 1988, a Rockers Revenge track ("Love Is on Our Side") appeared on *Rough House Vol. 1*, an early [house music](/source/House_music) [compilation album](/source/Compilation_album). In early 2005, "Walking on Sunshine" was re-released on the Gossip U.S. [record label](/source/Record_label), featuring [remixes](/source/Remix) by Hott 22 and Live Element. Another Rockers Revenge track called "Battle Cry" was featured in the film *[Beat Street](/source/Beat_Street)* and its [soundtrack album](/source/Beat_Street_(soundtrack)).
