**Daniel Roch Cholowsky** (born April 7, 2005) is an American [college baseball](/source/College_baseball) [infielder](/source/Infielder) for the [UCLA Bruins](/source/UCLA_Bruins_baseball). He is projected as a top prospect in the [2026 Major League Baseball draft](/source/2026_Major_League_Baseball_draft). [1]

## Career

Cholowsky attended [Hamilton High School](/source/Hamilton_High_School_(Chandler%2C_Arizona)) in [Chandler, Arizona](/source/Chandler%2C_Arizona), where he played on the [baseball](/source/Baseball) team as a shortstop and pitcher and on the [football](/source/American_football) team as a quarterback. As a junior in 2022, he hit .315 with two home runs.[2] As a senior in 2023, he batted .466 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI and was named the Gatorade Arizona Baseball Player of the Year.[3] He was considered a top prospect for the [2023 Major League Baseball draft](/source/2023_Major_League_Baseball_draft), but went unselected and enrolled at [UCLA](/source/UCLA) to play [college baseball](/source/College_baseball).[4][5]

As a freshman at UCLA in 2024, Cholowsky played in 52 games and hit .308 with eight home runs and 33 RBI.[6] After the season, he played in the [Cape Cod Baseball League](/source/Cape_Cod_Baseball_League) with the [Orleans Firebirds](/source/Orleans_Firebirds).[7][8] As a sophomore in 2025, Cholowsky was named the [Big Ten Conference Baseball Player of the Year](/source/Big_Ten_Conference_Baseball_Player_of_the_Year), Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and helped lead UCLA to their first [College World Series](/source/College_World_Series) in 12 years.[9] He also was awarded the [Brooks Wallace Award](/source/Brooks_Wallace_Award), given annually to the nation's best college shortstop.[10] Cholowsky finished the season with a .353 batting average, 23 home runs, and 74 RBI over 66 games and earned first team [All-American](/source/College_Baseball_All-America_Team) honors from Baseball America.[11] After the season, he was named to the [United States national baseball team](/source/United_States_national_baseball_team).[12] In 2026, Cholowsky was named Big Ten Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.[13]
