He also served as Creative Director of *[Italian Elle](/source/Elle_(magazine))*, *[The Face](/source/The_Face_(magazine))*, *[Arena](/source/Arena_Homme_%2B)* and *[Glamour France](/source/Glamour_(magazine))*. He worked for global fashion and beauty brands, including [Giorgio Armani](/source/Giorgio_Armani) and [Estée Lauder](/source/Est%C3%A9e_Lauder_(businesswoman)), and served as Global Executive [Creative Director](/source/Creative_Director) at [Spring Studios](https://www.springstudios.com). ## Career Robin Derrick attended [Central Saint Martins](/source/Central_Saint_Martins), in 1982, with a degree in [graphic design](/source/Graphic_design), the same year as [John Galliano](/source/John_Galliano). There, he met [Terry Jones](/source/Terry_Jones_(i-D)), co-founder and [editor](/source/Editor)-in-chief of *[i-D](/source/I-D)* magazine. He joined the design team of the magazine adding a layer of [bitmapped](/source/Bitmap) [computer graphics](/source/Computer_graphics) and it was at *i-D* that Derrick discovered his passion for [editorial design](/source/Editorial_design). In 1984, he joined *[The Face magazine](/source/The_Face_(magazine))*, alongside [Neville Brody](/source/Neville_Brody), shaping its ground-breaking visual identity and establishing it as a style and fashion bible of its generation. Derrick forged links with photographers such as [Nick Knight](/source/Nick_Knight_(photographer)), [Mario Testino](/source/Mario_Testino), and [Juergen Teller](/source/Juergen_Teller), who have all became leaders in their fields. In 1986, Derrick became a contributing editor for the launch of the [men's magazine](/source/Men's_magazine) *[Arena](/source/Arena_Homme_%2B)*. A year later, he was approached by [Carla Sozzani](/source/Carla_Sozzani), and together they launched *[Italian Elle](/source/Elle_(magazine))* with Derrick as [Art Director](/source/Art_Director). He brought on his photographer friends, including [Steven Meisel](/source/Steven_Meisel), [Paolo Roversi](/source/Paolo_Roversi), [Sarah Moon](/source/Sarah_Moon), [Bruce Weber](/source/Bruce_Weber_(photographer)), [Peter Lindbergh](/source/Peter_Lindbergh), and more. Returning to London in 1993, Derrick joined *[British Vogue](/source/British_Vogue)* as Art Director and later as Creative Director. During his 19 years at the magazine, he achieved the highest-selling issue in its history, as well as *[Campaign](/source/Campaign_(magazine))* magazine's "Cover of the Year". He created numerous iconic covers with [Kate Moss](/source/Kate_Moss), [Naomi Campbell](/source/Naomi_Campbell), [Linda Evangelista](/source/Linda_Evangelista), [Liz Hurley](/source/Elizabeth_Hurley), and [Princess Diana](/source/Diana,_Princess_of_Wales). Meanwhile, Derrick continued to bring in photography recruits such as [Craig McDean](/source/Craig_McDean), [Mert and Marcus](/source/Mert_and_Marcus), [Patrick Demarchelier](/source/Patrick_Demarchelier), Lachlan Bailey, Emma Summerton, [Terry Richardson](/source/Terry_Richardson), and artists like [Marc Quinn](/source/Marc_Quinn), [Tracey Emin](/source/Tracey_Emin), and [Sam Taylor Wood](/source/Sam_Taylor-Johnson). In 2005, Derrick began working as a contributing Creative Director at [Giorgio Armani](/source/Giorgio_Armani), overseeing campaigns for fashion, accessories, fragrance, and beauty. Meanwhile, Derrick officially joined Spring Studios as Global Executive Creative Director in 2011, overseeing the agency’s creative output across offices in London, New York, and Milan. There, he helped innovate and elevate some of luxury fashion and beauty's biggest brands into the new era of digital and e-commerce.
