# Robertson Channel

**Robertson Channel** ([66°19′S 110°29′E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=66_19_S_110_29_E)) is a body of water separating [Mitchell Peninsula](/source/Mitchell_Peninsula) from [Pidgeon Island](/source/Pidgeon_Island) and [Warrington Island](/source/Warrington_Island), in the [Windmill Islands](/source/Windmill_Islands). It was first mapped from air photos taken by [U.S. Navy Operation Highjump](/source/U.S._Navy_Operation_Highjump) and [Operation Windmill](/source/Operation_Windmill) in 1947 and 1948, and was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) for [Richard A. Robertson](/source/Richard_A._Robertson), glaciologist and member of the [Wilkes Station](/source/Wilkes_Station) party of 1958.
