**Robert Stanjek** (born 7 May 1981 in [Rüdersdorf](/source/R%C3%BCdersdorf), [Brandenburg](/source/Brandenburg)) is a German sailor, who specialized in two-person keelboat ([Star](/source/Star_(sailboat))) class.[1][2] He represented [Germany](/source/Germany), along with his partner [Frithjof Kleen](/source/Frithjof_Kleen) in the Star class at the [2012 Summer Olympics](/source/2012_Summer_Olympics), and also captured a silver medal at the [2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships](/source/2011_ISAF_Sailing_World_Championships) in [Perth](/source/Perth), Australia.[3] Stanjek has also been training throughout most of his sporting career for the North German Sailing Regatta ([German](/source/German_language): *Norddeutscher Regatta Verein*) in [Hamburg](/source/Hamburg) under his personal coach Alan Smith.[1][4] As of November 2014, Stanjek is ranked eighth in the world for the two-person keelboat by the [International Sailing Federation](/source/International_Sailing_Federation), following his first-place effort at the ISAF World Cup Series and [Star World Championship](/source/Star_World_Championship) in [Malcesine](/source/Malcesine), [Italy](/source/Italy).[5]

Stanjek qualified as a skipper for the German squad in the [Star](/source/Sailing_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Star) class at the [2012 Summer Olympics](/source/2012_Summer_Olympics) in [London](/source/London) by placing second and receiving a berth from the [ISAF World Championships](/source/2011_ISAF_Sailing_World_Championships) in [Perth](/source/Perth), Western Australia.[3][6] Teaming with his partner [Frithjof Kleen](/source/Frithjof_Kleen) in the opening series, the German duo recorded a net score of 70 points throughout the entire race, but came up short for the medal podium in sixth position against a fleet of sixteen boats.[7][8]
