Shaw attended [North Ossett High School](/source/Ossett) and then [Rodillian High School](/source/Rodillian_High_School) in Leeds.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] He later obtained his degree in drama at the [University of Birmingham](/source/University_of_Birmingham), before attending the [Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art](/source/Webber_Douglas_Academy_of_Dramatic_Art) in London, from which he graduated in July 2001 with Distinction. He became Robert Cameron[1] on graduation from drama school before re establishing his birth name in his professional name, becoming Robert Shaw Cameron in 2010. He lives in London.[2] ## Actor Shaw is best known for playing Laurence Reeves, a dentist, in *[Coronation Street](/source/Coronation_Street)*, in which he becomes the lover of [Sean Tully](/source/Sean_Tully), played by long time regular [Antony Cotton](/source/Antony_Cotton). His first television role was in 2002 in *[Ricky & Bianca](/source/Ricky_%26_Bianca)*, a spin-off from Britain's other most popular [soap opera](/source/Soap_opera), *[EastEnders](/source/EastEnders)*.
