# Robbie Naismith

**Robbie Naismith** (born 4 May 1964) is a New Zealand [sailor](/source/Sailor_(sport)) who has competed in multiple [Whitbread Round the World Races](/source/Whitbread_Round_the_World_Race) and [America's Cups](/source/America's_Cup).

From [Whangārei](/source/Whang%C4%81rei), Naismith sailed in the 1989 [Admiral's Cup](/source/Admiral's_Cup) before sailing the [1989–90 Whitbread Round the World Race](/source/1989%E2%80%9390_Whitbread_Round_the_World_Race) on *[NCB Ireland](/source/NCB_Ireland)*.

He then joined [New Zealand Challenge](/source/New_Zealand_Challenge), sailing as a trimmer on *NZL 20* in the [1992 America's Cup](/source/1992_America's_Cup). He again competed in the [1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race](/source/1993%E2%80%9394_Whitbread_Round_the_World_Race), this time winning the [Whitbread 60](/source/Whitbread_60) title with *Yamaha*.

He then joined [Team New Zealand](/source/Team_New_Zealand) and was on *[NZL 32](/source/NZL_32)* when it won the [1995 America's Cup](/source/1995_America's_Cup).

He sailed on *[Innovation Kvaerner](/source/Innovation_Kvaerner)* in the [1997–98 Whitbread Round the World Race](/source/1997%E2%80%9398_Whitbread_Round_the_World_Race) before re-joining Team New Zealand for their successful [2000 America's Cup](/source/2000_America's_Cup) defence.[1]

Naismith joined [Oracle Racing](/source/Oracle_Racing) for the [2003](/source/2003_Louis_Vuitton_Cup) and [2007 Louis Vuitton Cups](/source/2007_Louis_Vuitton_Cup), where he led their sail programme.[2] He sailed on Puma Racing's *[Il Mostro](/source/Il_Mostro_(yacht))* during the [2008–09 Volvo Ocean Race](/source/2008%E2%80%9309_Volvo_Ocean_Race).[3][4] He also sailed with [Team Origin](/source/Team_Origin),[5] and then [Artemis Racing](/source/Artemis_Racing) during the 2010 [Louis Vuitton Trophy Dubai](/source/Louis_Vuitton_Trophy_Dubai) regatta.[6]
