# Rob Miles

**Rob Miles** (born 23 July 1957) is a [Microsoft Most Valuable Professional](/source/Microsoft_Most_Valuable_Professional), and a former [lecturer](/source/Lecturer) in [programming](/source/Programming_language) [C Sharp](/source/C_Sharp_(programming_language)) and other elements of [software engineering](/source/Software_Engineering) at the [University of Hull](/source/University_of_Hull).[2][3]

Miles has given speeches worldwide on topics including [C Sharp](/source/C_Sharp_(programming_language)), [Microsoft XNA](/source/Microsoft_XNA), [Windows Mobile](/source/Windows_Mobile) development and embedded development using the [.NET Micro Framework](/source/.NET_Micro_Framework). He has written an [XNA](/source/Microsoft_XNA) book, and he co-authored a book about the .NET Micro Framework with Donald Thompson.

Miles has also repeatedly been a member of the judging team of the yearly Microsoft [Imagine Cup](/source/Imagine_Cup).[4] In 2009, he was selected as a Captain of the software design competition.[5]

Miles currently hosts a monthly Arduino Hardware Group as part of the Hull Digital Group at The [Centre for Digital Innovation](/source/C4DI_(Centre_for_Digital_Innovation)) Beta.[6]
