# Roadblock

A roadblock is a temporary installation set up to control or block [traffic](/source/traffic) along a [road](/source/road). The reasons for one could be:

*Temporary road closure during special events

*[Robbery](/source/Robbery)
*[Sobriety checkpoint](/source/Sobriety_checkpoint)
*[Protests](/source/Protest)

In peaceful circumstances, they are usually installed by the [police](/source/police) or road transport authorities; they are also commonly employed during [war](/source/war)s and are usually staffed by heavily armed soldiers in that case.
