# River Ilen

The **River Ilen** ()[1] is a river in [West Cork](/source/West_Cork), Ireland. It rises at Mullaghmesha mountain and flows southwards for 37 kilometres into the [Celtic Sea](/source/Celtic_Sea).

Its five main tributaries are, the Saivnose, Coarliss, Achrinduff, Glounaphuca and Clodagh. It is listed as having [Quality A water](/source/Water_quality), which means its pollution levels are far below the national average. Fish found in the river include [brown](/source/Brown_Trout) and [sea trout](/source/Sea_trout) and [Atlantic salmon](/source/Atlantic_salmon).[2] The main settlement on the river is [Skibbereen](/source/Skibbereen). It flows into the sea at the village of [Baltimore](/source/Baltimore,_County_Cork).
