'''Rio Okano''' (岡野 里音 ''Okano Rio'', born on March 5, 1991, in [Kobe](/source/Kobe), [Japan](/source/Japan)), also known as '''Rionos''', is a Japanese singer, songwriter, and music producer. She has provided the music for [anime](/source/anime), [video game](/source/video_game)s and other singers. The name "Rionos" is derived from the nickname "Rio no Suke" that her friend called her.

== Biography ==
Okano was born into a musical family. Her mother was a classical [marimba](/source/marimba) player and her father was a [jazz](/source/jazz) [drummer](/source/drummer). She grew up learning [piano](/source/piano) and [violin](/source/violin). As a high school student, she gave up trying to become a classical player and often spent time at home because of her physical condition. She was inspired by movies, anime and game music, and she began to think about becoming a [composer](/source/composer) who could work at home.<ref name=":0">{{Cite news|url=https://www.lisani.jp/0000100168/|title=TVアニメ『クジラの子らは砂上に歌う』ED主題歌「ハシタイロ」rionosインタビュー|work=リスアニ！WEB - アニメ・アニメ音楽のポータルサイト|access-date=2021-08-22|language=ja}}</ref>

She entered [Osaka University of Arts](/source/Osaka_University_of_Arts) in 2009 as a correspondence student. Her condition improved, so she attended [computer music](/source/computer_music) school ''Dee'' in [Osaka](/source/Osaka) in the autumn of 2009. In 2011, she was no longer a correspondence student at Osaka University of Arts from third year.<ref name=":0" />

She earned a reputation singing songs at Dee, so she sent her songs to record companies. Her songs caught Keitaro Kamo's ear, while he was director of [EMI Music Japan](/source/EMI_Music_Japan).<ref name=":0" /> She released her first mini album ''read me'' (initially only for download sales.<ref name=":1">{{Cite news|url=https://ototoy.jp/feature/index.php/20121016|title=特集: rionos|work=OTOTOY|access-date=2018-03-05|language=ja}}</ref> It was released on CD in 2013.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://okmusic.jp/news/21735|title=限定販売に品薄状態が続いた、rionosのアルバムがついに全国流通開始|website=OKMusic|date=13 May 2013 |language=ja|access-date=2018-03-05}}</ref>）

After that, she provided songs for Yufu Terashima produced by Keitaro Kamo. In 2016, [Lantis](/source/Lantis_(company))'s producer Junnosuke Sato listened to her songs for Yufu and contacted her.<ref name=":2">{{Cite news|url=https://news.yahoo.co.jp/byline/munekataakimasa/20171111-00076612|title=加茂啓太郎×寺嶋由芙×rionos鼎談～このチームでサブスクのバイラルチャートに入る名曲を作りたい|last=Munekata|first=Akimasa|work=Yahoo! == Personality ==
Okano claimed that her nickname was to express a little [Greek](/source/Greek_language)-ish and mysterious feeling.<ref name=":1" />

She is a big fan of [Akino Arai](/source/Akino_Arai), whom she used first as a model. After the release of ''read me.'', she became friends with Akino Arai and the arranger Hisaaki Hogari.<ref name=":0" /> She also likes the composers [Ryuichi Sakamoto](/source/Ryuichi_Sakamoto), [Joe Hisaishi](/source/Joe_Hisaishi), and [Yoko Kanno](/source/Yoko_Kanno).

Singer Ryo Irei is a friend<ref name=":0" /> and has been given songs she composed several times. He participated on the chorus of a song "Sora wo Tobitai to", released with "Hashitairo".<ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.lisani.jp/0000100170/|title=rionos「ハシタイロ」レビュー|work=リスアニ！WEB - アニメ・アニメ音楽のポータルサイト|access-date=2021-08-22|language=ja}}</ref>
