**Richard Alexander Waddell** (born 4 February 1981) is a Scottish [football](/source/Association_football) player and coach who is head coach of [Scottish Lowland Football League](/source/Scottish_Lowland_Football_League) team [Caledonian Braves](/source/Caledonian_Braves_F.C.).[1] His playing career as a [defender](/source/Defender_(association_football)) or [midfielder](/source/Midfielder) saw him play for Scottish clubs including [Falkirk](/source/Falkirk_F.C.), [Partick Thistle](/source/Partick_Thistle_F.C.), [Hamilton Academical](/source/Hamilton_Academical_F.C.), [Airdrie United](/source/Airdrieonians_F.C.) and [Clyde](/source/Clyde_F.C.), as well as spells in Singapore and the United States.

## Playing career

Waddell began his career with hometown team [Falkirk](/source/Falkirk_F.C.), before joining [Partick Thistle](/source/Partick_Thistle_F.C.) in 2003. He spent two years with the *Jags*, before having spells at [Hamilton Academical](/source/Hamilton_Academical_F.C.) and [Forfar Athletic](/source/Forfar_Athletic_F.C.).

In 2006, he left Scotland, and joined [Singaporean](/source/Singapore) outfit [Senkang Punggol](/source/Sengkang_Punggol_FC). He returned to his home country in 2007, signing for [Ayr United](/source/Ayr_United_F.C.), before joining [Airdrie United](/source/Airdrie_United_F.C.) later in the same year.

He joined [Clyde](/source/Clyde_F.C.) on 2 June 2008.[2] He made his Clyde debut in a 2–0 victory against [Alloa Athletic](/source/Alloa_Athletic_F.C.) in the [Scottish Challenge Cup](/source/Scottish_Challenge_Cup) in August 2008.[3] Waddell's first goal for Clyde turned out to be the winning goal in a 3–2 victory over [St Johnstone](/source/St_Johnstone_F.C.) on 30 August 2008.[4] Waddell's contract was terminated in June 2009, following Clyde's relegation and financial troubles.[5] He went on to rejoin [Airdrie United](/source/Airdrie_United_F.C.). After a season back at Airdrie, he joined Clyde again, where he stayed for a year, before being released in May 2011.[6]

## Managerial career

Waddell was appointed manager of [Lowland Football League](/source/Lowland_Football_League) team [Caledonian Braves](/source/Caledonian_Braves) in 2015.[7]
