**Rick Schwartz** is an American film and television producer and financier based in New York, whose credits include *[The Departed](/source/The_Departed)*,[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] *[Black Swan](/source/Black_Swan_(film))*, *[Gangs of New York](/source/Gangs_of_New_York)*, *[Machete](/source/Machete_(2010_film))*,[1] *[The Others](/source/The_Others_(2001_film))*,[2] and *[Lip Sync Battle](/source/Lip_Sync_Battle)*.[3][4]

## Career

Schwartz began his film career at [Miramax](/source/Miramax) under [Harvey](/source/Harvey_Weinstein) and [Bob Weinstein](/source/Bob_Weinstein), working there for seven years and eventually serving as the company's senior vice president of production. At Miramax, Schwartz oversaw the development and production of projects including [Martin Scorsese](/source/Martin_Scorsese)’s *[Gangs of New York](/source/Gangs_of_New_York)*, and *[The Departed](/source/The_Departed)*,[5] and [Alejandro Amenabar](/source/Alejandro_Amenabar)’s *[The Others](/source/The_Others_(2001_film))*.[5]

In 2008, Schwartz founded Overnight Productions, which has financed and produced movies by directors including [Robert Rodriguez](/source/Robert_Rodriguez), [Darren Aronofsky](/source/Darren_Aronofsky) and [Gela Babluani](/source/Gela_Babluani).[6]

Later, Schwartz partnered with American financier, [Jeremy Frommer](/source/Jeremy_Frommer) to develop a technology company. He co-founded Jerrick Media, a producer and distributor of digital media content, in 2013.[7][8]
