# Richard Worsfold

Archdeacon of Leicester

**Richard Vernon Worsfold** (born 17 July 1964) is a British [Anglican](/source/Anglican) priest. From 2018 until 2025, he served as [Archdeacon of Leicester](/source/Archdeacon_of_Leicester)[1] in the [Church of England](/source/Church_of_England)'s [Diocese of Leicester](/source/Diocese_of_Leicester).[2]

Worsfold was educated at the [University of Exeter](/source/University_of_Exeter) and [Cranmer Hall, Durham](/source/Cranmer_Hall%2C_Durham).[3] He was [ordained](/source/Ordained) in the [Church of England](/source/Church_of_England) as a [deacon](/source/Deacon#Anglicanism) in 1995 and as a [priest](/source/Priest#Anglican_or_Episcopalian) in 1996. He served his [title](/source/Title_(Christianity)) at [Countesthorpe](/source/Countesthorpe) between 1995 and 1999. He then served [incumbencies](/source/Incumbent_(ecclesiastical)) at [Bradgate Team Parish](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bradgate_Team_Parish&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Westcotes](/source/Westcotes). He was the [Area Dean](/source/Area_Dean) of Leicester from 2014 to 2018 before his appointment as [Archdeacon](/source/Archdeacon_of_Leicester).[4] Worsford resigned his archdeaconry to become Area Dean of Salford and Leigh[5] from 23 September 2025.[6]
