# Richard Whiley

**Richard Kingscote Whiley** (born 10 October 1935) is a former English [cricketer](/source/Cricket). Whiley was a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batting_(cricket)). He was born in [Gloucester](/source/Gloucester), [Gloucestershire](/source/Gloucestershire) and educated at [Malvern College](/source/Malvern_College).

Whiley made a single [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) appearance for [Gloucestershire](/source/Gloucestershire_County_Cricket_Club) against the touring [Pakistanis](/source/Pakistan_national_cricket_team) at the [College Ground, Cheltenham](/source/College_Ground,_Cheltenham) in 1954.[1] In this match he batted twice, scoring 7 [not out](/source/Not_out) and 4 not out, in what was a drawn match.[2] This was his only major appearance for Gloucestershire. Four years later, while studying at [Brasenose College, Oxford](/source/Brasenose_College,_Oxford), he made a single first-class appearance for [Oxford University Cricket Club](/source/Oxford_University_Cricket_Club) against [Lancashire](/source/Lancashire_County_Cricket_Club) at [University Parks, Oxford](/source/University_Parks).[1] In the Oxford first-innings, Whiley was dismissed for 4 runs by [Roy Tattersall](/source/Roy_Tattersall), while in their second-innings he was dismissed for 2 runs by the same bowler, with a low scoring encounter ending in a draw.[3]

In 1964, Whiley made his debut for [Dorset](/source/Dorset_County_Cricket_Club) in the [Minor Counties Championship](/source/Minor_Counties_Championship) against [Wiltshire](/source/Wiltshire_County_Cricket_Club). He played [Minor counties](/source/Minor_counties_of_English_and_Welsh_cricket) cricket for Dorset from 1964 to 1967, making a total of 36 Minor Counties Championship appearances.[4]
