**Richard Stringer** (born 15 March 1772; date of death unknown) was an English professional [cricketer](/source/Cricket) from [Leicester](/source/Leicester).[1] He made several known appearances from 1789 to 1803 in [historically important matches](/source/First-class_cricket#Historically_important_matches).[note 1]

## Career

Stringer played mostly for [Leicestershire & Rutland](/source/Leicestershire_and_Rutland_Cricket_Club), and he was a member of the combined [Nottinghamshire & Leicestershire team](/source/Nottinghamshire_%26_Leicestershire_cricket_team) at [Lord's](/source/Lord's) in July 1803.[2]

## Notes

1. Any match listed in [the ACS](/source/The_Association_of_Cricket_Statisticians_and_Historians)' *Important Match Guide* (1981) is [historically important](/source/First-class_cricket#Historically_important), and therefore of the highest standard, whether or not a scorecard might exist. The same applies to numerous matches discovered by researchers since 1981.[3] For further information, see [First-class cricket](/source/First-class_cricket).
