# Richard Spong

**Richard Spong** (born 23 September 1983) is a Swedish [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder).[1]

## Career

Spong began his career as a youth player with [IK Frej](/source/IK_Frej) and [IF Brommapojkarna](/source/IF_Brommapojkarna), before moving to England with [Coventry City](/source/Coventry_City_F.C.) in 1999 where he didn't make a single first team appearance. He returned to Sweden in 2002 with [Djurgårdens IF](/source/Djurg%C3%A5rdens_IF_Fotboll), later signing with [IFK Norrköping](/source/IFK_Norrk%C3%B6ping) in 2005. He signed for [GAIS](/source/GAIS) in the [2009 season](/source/2009_Allsvenskan).
